One of the hardest things to do is to stay in shape during the winter months. Like animals in the wild people tend to hibernate during the winter, and unless there’s a gym close by muscles and tendons shrink and tighten up at rapid speeds. However, unlike polar bears and animals alike, who cease eating during the winter months, humans continue to consume.
The best way to fight the cold, stay in shape, and lose that hibernation weight is to find activities that encourage physical activity and fun. These are activities to be done alone or with friends, but the most important thing is that they don’t require a lot of money and they promote a healthy and active lifestyle. Which is important all year round.

1. Polar-bear Football- One of America’s favorite pastime’s, but loved by many across the world is football. Getting a few friends together, bundling up in all your warm clothes and tossing the pigskin around the yard is a great way to work up a sweat while providing some healthy, competitive fun for all.

2. Yoga- Yoga is a great way to stretch the muscles and improve over-all attitude, which, is important when the snow comes out and the sun goes away. As well, the muscle endurance and self-discipline required to do yoga will immediately warm up your body during the frosty winter months. Most importantly yoga can be done right in your family room, no gym required.

3. Hockey or Ice skating- Skating and hockey are both fun and exhilarating ways to work up a sweat and thanks to the invention of snow machine’s and the like, towns across the world are providing people with the opportunity to skate all winter long, at a very reasonable to price their wallet’s.

Staying active is important part of feeling and being healthy. It’s also a great way to have fun. Enjoy the winter months and promote your well being through physical activity.
