Space travel was once the arena of big budget superpower governments. In the last few years, though, even the ordinary person can hope to spend a few days in space. Well, not any ordinary man, of course; one needs to be able to shell out upwards of $20 million, go through rigorous training and only then be able to go up into space. But, it is a distinct possibility nowadays that people can self fund their space travel.

This is the new and interesting field of adventure sports called private space travel. A number of people, including at least one woman, has afforded themselves this opportunity, paid their $20 million USD, and left for a quick vacation in space. There is a Virginia based outfit called Space Adventures that is founded solely to facilitate privately funded space travel. Already they have had 9 clients who they have successfully sent to space; one of these is apparently a repeat client who has gone to space twice.

So, what exactly do you need to afford yourself of this enormous and life changing sports and adventure opportunity? Of course, there’s that little matter of the 20 million American dollars; let us assume you are one of the rare few who can spend that much amount of money on a luxurious curiosity like space travel. Given that, is there a particular age limit or is there any other condition? Well, it is a fact that most wealthy men who can afford 20 million US dollars are relatively older people. This is proven by the fact that many of the clients of Space Adventure, Inc., are older people. At least one of these was 65 years old when he went to space. So, age is probably not a factor.

What is more important for you to indulge in this sports of all sports is a healthy physique, an interest in learning new things quickly, and that overwhelming adventure spirit.
