Indulging in some sporting activity is very important for most of us. All work and no play makes me a dull boy. This proverb is very apt irrespective of the times we are in and it has all the more relevance in today’s world of stress and strain.
There are many kinds of sports ranging from indoor sports, outdoor sports, adventure sports and even some extreme sports like cheese rolling, etc. Many sporting activities are engaged by many people no longer as a leisure or entertainment activity but more of a profession. So apart from having a good body and mind, sporting activities affords an alternate career option with lot of money, name and fame at your beckoning.
There are many sports to choose from and it depends on the individuals’ tastes, preferences, his health condition and other factors. Each sporting activity has a uniqueness of its own. There are excellent individual sporting events like boxing, judo, golf, wrestling, individual field and track events, etc., where it is the individual alone who has to shine or perish.
On the other hand we have excellent team sporting activities where team strength matters more than individual efforts. Examples of individual sporting activities are football, hockey, cricket, baseball, rugby, volleyball, team field and track events, etc. Whatever be the sporting event success or otherwise depends to a great extent on intense training and practice. Becoming a good sportsman is not an easy task and calls for huge amount of sacrifice and hard work.
To excel in a particular sporting arena requires availability of the best of training inputs by way of equipment, coaching, good food habits, mental makeup, motivational training and other important ingredients. There are many countries with extremely talented athletes and sports persons who have not been able to make it big in the international arena in the absence of proper training, infrastructure and other essentials.
